Working with ceramics holds a very long tradition in Latin America. Even nowadays, ceramic products, which are still used in everyday life, are being produced in workshops throughout all Latin America.
In doing so, each region has preserved special features concerning material, manufacturing, design and pattern. These traditions have been passed on for a long time and will be further handed down. Just like in former times, ceramics are still wood-fired and painted with traditional patterns afterwards.
Thus, it is no surprise that these artful basic commodities are more and more admired by collectors in Europe and all over the world. After all they are evidence of a long tradition and a very old craftsmanship technique.

A special characteristic of the Latin American ceramic handicraft is the fact that traditionally products will not be glazed or rather that the glaze will not be stoved. Hence, most of the ceramic products are not waterproof.
